Using a smartphone from morning to night has become more than a habit. In such a situation, there is no time to charge the phone and companies are giving the option of fast charging, so that the phone can be charged quickly. However, there are many mistakes users make when it comes to smartphone charging, which can affect the battery life and performance of the phone. For example, leaving the phone on charge overnight is not good for the battery.

Almost all smartphones come with Li-ion batteries, which can provide good performance for 2 to 3 years with 300 to 500 charge cycles. After this their efficiency decreases by about 20%. Charging the phone incorrectly can affect this cycle and battery life. That means your phone's battery can get damaged quickly. Some things should be kept in mind while charging the phone.

If you are one of those users who wait for the phone to discharge before charging, then avoid doing so. It is not necessary to charge the phone only when the battery is almost completely discharged. Similarly, it is not necessary to remove the phone from charging only after charging it 100%. When the battery is charged between 90 and 100 percent, you can unplug it and start using it.

As with most smartphones, a charger that supports their fast charging capabilities is bundled in the box. Always charge the phone with the official charger and avoid using cheap third party chargers. For flagship phones with which companies do not provide charging bricks, buy chargers from trusted brands only. Actually, how much power the phone should get during charging depends on the adapter, so cheap chargers can damage the battery.

After full charge the smartphone automatically stops charging but that does not mean keep the phone on charge as the charger keeps on working. Also, it should not be used while charging the phone as it may damage the cell of the device. Doing this reduces the battery life of the phone and also affects its performance.

The most damage to the phone's battery can be caused by heat and if the temperature of the phone exceeds a certain limit, then the battery can be damaged. If you use a thick phone cover or a heavy case, the phone may overheat during charging and damage the battery. You can also remove the cover or case of the phone while charging.
