 The best time to sleep is till 10 pm.  According to Ayurveda, Pitta is the dominant time from 10 pm to 2 pm.  During this time your metabolism is at its peak.  If you stop eating at 7-7:30 pm and go to bed early, it makes it easier to digest everything you have eaten throughout the day.  Along with this, it also gives time to detox the liver.  If you sleep late at night, you will have trouble falling asleep and the quality of sleep is also affected, leading to mental problems, vitamin deficiencies and stomach problems.
